As Liverpool FC await, Tottenham Hotspur needs to do more at Wembley Stadium
The Tottenham Hotspur fans should feel relieved as their side managed to finally win a game at home. The Spurs won 1-0 against Bournemouth but find it really tough to produce the kind of performance they would have liked to deliver. The Spurs defensive performance in home fixtures is pretty disappointing as of late. With Liverpool coming next week, manager Mauricio Pochettino knows that his team will have to do much better if they are to avoid losing more points at home. This Premier League fixture is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 22, at 11 a.m. ET / 4 p.m. GMT at Wembley Stadium.
Liverpool FC has won just once since August and it appears they have lost a little bit of their form. However, The Reds remain unbeaten when playing against the Spurs in 10 games. Not since September 2011, has the Tottenham club managed a win over Liverpool. This is an opportunity for manager Jurgen Klopp to turn the tide for his team and propel it back toward the top of the league. Liverpool goes into the game eighth in the league, four points behind the Spurs in the Premier League table. Klopp does not have his star forward Sadio Mane, so far this season, for six weeks due to injury. He now has just introduced midfielder Philippe Coutinho into one of the league’s most lethal attacks.
Tottenham Hotspur FC is in form with seven wins in the last eight games. The Spurs forward Harry Kane has been prolific. Harry Kane is one of the Spurs most important players. The 24-year-old has already scored six goals in eight league appearances for the club. The real problem is that none of those goals came at Wembley, the Spurs home ground. The Spurs are finding it hard to secure points in home fixtures. During the Spurs win last Saturday against Bournemouth, their defense was exposed on more than one occasions. At home in Wembley Stadium, manager Mauricio Pochettino has seen his team win only once in the Premier League. Sportbooks Games gives Liverpool an edge, who has enjoyed success at Wembley, winning 20 times at the national stadium.
Liverpool title challenge is over if Manchester United wins at Anfield
Liverpool FC will host their rivals Manchester United at Anfield on October 14 with kick-off scheduled for 12:30pm, BST. This fixture will be Manchester United’s biggest test of the season so far. Manchester United sits at second in the Premier League on points with leader Manchester City.
Liverpool knows a win on home ground will send a message to the rest of the top flight. The Reds will be desperate to make a statement against the Red Devils. Liverpool went into the international break seven points behind United after a 1-1 draw at Newcastle. The Reds lack of a world class striker proved to be costly once again. Newcastle also exposed some weakness in the middle of Liverpool’s defense. Other than hammering Arsenal 4-0, Liverpool has been patchy all season. The pressure will be on to produce more in such a high profile fixture. The Reds are thrilling and infuriating at the same time. Liverpool has a brilliant attack but with a weak defense they sit seven points off the top.
Manchester United has an unbeaten run of nine wins and a draw featuring mostly modest opposition. Only two of their opponents so far finished in the top 10 last season. The Red Devils looked very good against their rivals with four goals netted in six different matches. The Red Devils are looking very impressive as of lately. They kept the opposition scoreless in six of seven Premier League games. They are well placed to soak up pressure and unleash their speed on the counter attack. During their last match, they attacked Chelsea’s weak spots with vigor. Manchester United forced the Chelsea full-backs to play wide and in turn created space in the middle for their attacking midfielders. Sportsbooks Games thinks if visiting Manchester United can survive an early onslaught, they will come away with the win.
Man City face off with Liverpool at the Etihad
Manchester City will play host to Liverpool FC in this match at Etihad on Saturday, September 9. The kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 BST/07:30 ET. The match will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League. Both sides sit in the top four after collecting seven points from their opening three games. Both sides have started the season with two wins and a draw. They are both Premier League title hopefuls. Manchester City are still seeking a first home win after being held to a 1-1 draw by Everton. Liverpool have won both their home games, including a 4-0 impressive win of Arsenal. A win for either side in this match would send the victors to the top.
Manchester City has only dropped two points from their first three fixtures so far. Raheem Sterling will be suspended for Manchester City for this match. Pep Guardioala has assembled talented players but they have been far from convincing so far. The Sky Blues wore down Brighton well enough but were then held to a draw at home by Everton. They also came away with a 2-1 win at Bournemouth with seven minutes into stoppage time. City weren’t dominant or coherent in their play. They seem to have a lack of tactical understanding at the moment.
Liverpool didn’t have the best start to the season but are level with City on seven points. Klopp is now adding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, which will give this well-balanced squad another boost. The earlier signings of Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Dominic Solanke are already settling in nicely. Liverpool’s front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have been unstoppable this season. The Reds have a high-tempo game plan to unsettle their hosts. Sportsbooks Games has to give the edge to The Reds in this fixture.
